Legislating the alphabet.
Weird. Scary.
Kurds told to mind their Qs and XsANKARA (Reuters) - What's in a name? Not the letters Q, X or W, according to a decision by Turkey's Interior Ministry targeting the country's large ethnic Kurd minority.
Moving to clarify a reform recently approved by parliament, the ministry confirmed on Wednesday that Kurds now have the right to give their children Kurdish names, but said they must avoid Q, W and X, which are not found in the Turkish alphabet.
