Radio Free Baltimore: Cruising the Dial for Fresh Sounds

Thank God for radio preset buttons, right? What a time saver they are, enabling us beltway cruisers to find something to tap our feet to (hopefully not on the gas pedal), without averting our attention for even an instant whilst we scan the stations. There is, however, something lost in this thoughtless dependence upon our tried-and-true favorites: the discovery of new and interesting radio programming! I personally feel that this would be a much more open-minded world if people would deliberately and systematically try to do things differently every once in a while. But this isn’t an opinion piece, rather it is an informational article, designed to give you, the reader, a better idea of what’s to be found hidden deep within the recesses of the FM dial. So, as the hippies used to say, let’s tune in and drop out (don’t worry, I won’t tell your folks.)
