Relive the glory days of the comic strip, according to me of course. Read my latest review:
Calvin & Hobbes Sunday Pages 1985-1995: An Exhibition Catalogue
Peace out. I might not get to update tomorrow. We'll see.

Some wet and wonderful wisdom (and wacky words) wegarding H20 :

"We never know the worth of water till the well is dry."

- English Proverb

"I bought some powdered water, but I don't
know what to add to it."

- Steven Wright

"The water was not fit to drink.
To make it palatable, we had to add whiskey.
By diligent effort, I learned to like it."

- Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

These quotes come from a daily email I receive. I take no responsibility for any individual who chooses to emulate Sir Winston. ;-)

Well, I had to throw out those unruly guests in the Posting Complex. Loyal citizens, consider yourselves safe from such threats to your dignity, at least on my board.

In other news, I made two stops at the library today, and probably set a record in the process. I checked out 26 items from the 'El Kridge' and Arbutus branches. Beat that, hot stuff. And yes, I do plan on reading all of 'em. Every last one. Yup. Sure I will. heheheh... I think LOTR: TTT will have to be put on the backburner 'til the middle of July, at earliest.

More coming soon...

Hmmm...seems there's a flame war [nm, message removed] going on in the ol' Posting Complex. What to do, what to do?
Please folks, let's be civil, shan't we? *evil grin*

I started reading the wonderful Calvin and Hobbes: Sunday Pages 1985-1995. I plan to write a full review sometime soon. Indispensible. Really, get this book!

From now on, I think I'll start posting my thoughts on my current reading material... don't be hesitant to send me your thoughts!

Can someone tell me the best way to fend off AOL IM Spam? Every few minutes I get slammed with some idiotic, bot-produced message asking me to sign up for some scam operation or check out some, ahem, pics...(you get the idea). I always block the "users" that send me the garbage, but I don't want to exclude someone who legitmately wants to talk, and isn't yet on my Buddy List... (yes, that HAS happened, believe it or not).
I guess this is another technological Catch-22.

Phew... just finished reading The Fellowship of the Ring . It's quite a journey, even after having seen the film. Can't wait to get started on The Two Towers! I think I'll save that one for summer though. I'm definitely going to try to complete it before the movie comes out in December.

Anyone else notice how the volume of messages on Yahoo!'s boards has shot up beyond belief? Are they all just slacker college students off for summer who haven't gotten a job? How pathetic...

And forgetting about the amount of posts, has anyone seen how vicious the tone of most of them have gotten? They're positively rabid! Honestly, it's getting like the Weimar Republic over there: everybody is screaming something about some Communist/Jew/Republican/Arab/Liberal/American/Democrat/
White/Palestinian/Indian/Black/Pakistani/Conservative/whatever conspiracy to "control the media," "distort the TRUTH," and all this other hogwash. 100% rhetoric, and it makes me ill.

Classic joke:
A student comes to a young professor's office hours. She
glances down the hall, closes his door, kneels pleadingly.
"I would do anything to pass this exam."
She leans closer to him, flips back her hair, gazes meaningfully
into his eyes.
"I mean..." she whispers, "...I would do... **anything**!!!"
He returns her gaze. "Anything???"
"Yes,... Anything!!!"
His voice turns to a whisper. "Would you... study???"

I have decided to go with popular demand and start a message board for ya'll to get your chat on. Treat it as a guestbook: even if you don't have anything to say, at least say hi or otherwise acquit yourself.
SWiley's Posting Complex
Enjoy!

Yay! (Or "boo!," depending on whom you ask, I 'spose.) Grades just got posted. I did OK, I think.
It's like golf: lower scores are best, right? If so, I got an eagle, a few birdies, and a mulligan or two. All right, I'm speaking nonsense. Guards, take me away!

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention that on the way home, there was a wheelbarrow in the middle of the highway. Yes, you heard me right. Someone has got one twisted, surreal sense of humor. That, or some hick's pickup hit a bump or something.

Random musing: I'm really upset that 24 is over with. It was my only 'appointment TV' show that I had. I have nothing to do on Tuesday nights now.* If FOX would stop being arrogant and obnoxious in not rerunning the show, I'd definitely watch. But what can I do about it? Absolutely nothing... If only for this show, I can't wait for October to roll around.

*Besides of course workin' on this BLOG. [g]

All righty, I just finished my first semi-major article for you guys and gals. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones It's not what you might expect; instead of just giving my fanboyish overview of the film, I've instead given you a look at three different experiences with the movie, including one in the much-vaunted DLP. Let me just say that although the dry, banal script was unchanged, the visual spectacle was immensely increased. And isn't that what we go to the movies for? ;-)

Hope you all enjoy. Please let me know what you think!

LOL Is he (Fred) really that desperate? (...for a guitar player and/or publicity?)

Yeah how surprising: I've only had this thing for 2 days and already I'm falling behind on my bloggin'. I can explain.
Yesterday, me and my cuz, Frank Ballswallet*, went down to Nap Town to see the only Digital Projection of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones in the great state of MD. Driving down there was no sweat, but once we found the mall itself, we had a dickens of a time finding the theater. It seemed the Annapolis Mall was designed by chief architect Helen Keller**. So once we got inside, we had to purchase the tix at the box office, logically located in the middle of the food court. Not surprisingly, the 3:40 show we wanted to see was sold out (it was 3:25 or so when we found this out). Grrrr....st00pid internet ticket grabbers!
*AKA cyberdrum, AKA bedman
**LOL, sorry that was terrible.
We just hung out the rest of the day until the next screening, at 7pm. The review is forthcoming. And in a few hours, I'm going with him to see it at Maryland's premier movie-going venue, the historic Senator. Comparing the two, along with my first AOTC experience, should be fun... be back later....

Hey everybody! Thanks for reading this. I have no idea how this is going to work out for me, as I tend to start projects like this and never really bring them to fruition (whatever that would be in the world of weblogs). I find blogs to be either terribly fascinated or unbelievably boring. You may have made up you mind about this one already, but I hope you'll find my thoughts funny, interesting, or at least tolerable. Perhaps all I'll come up with is a link or two from around the 'net, but even so I want this blog to be a "two-way street:" cathartic for me, worthwhile for you.

So however you got here, I'm glad that you found me. I'll try to think of something worth reading as often as possible, maybe every day...BTW sorry about those ads up top: I tried to put this on my umbc webspace but things didn't work out... Anyway, I've heading down to my grandmother's for our Memorial Day family get-together. Tomorrow: Episode II in DLP (Digital Projection). Woo-hoo! Expect a review of some kind.
